Less-Random Book Find

You Don't Love Me Yet was not so random.

I actually used the library catalog to find authors who write like my aforementioned favorite, Douglas Coupland. Jonathan Lethem came up, and his book was on the shelf in my dinky home branch.

(First of all, if you live in Seattle, you're better off making the trip downtown to the palatial main branch I've praised previously.)

However, I am less than a quarter of the way through with no motivation to go on. Why?
I think it has something to do with the intensity of the author's style. Too serious. Too scientific. Too stiff. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but that is my best hypothesis as to why my interest in this title has waned.

Maybe also the characters are too distant from my life to relate with, or not believable enough for me. There're lots of people in the autism spectrum in this book, which, I should actually be able to relate with, but maybe they are too far in for me to share with. In any case, they don't speak to me, and nor does the story. Not at this time in my life, anyway.

You experience will surely vary. If you are in a band, for example, and a little older than myself, you will probably have some interest.
